Best Original Song

The best original song category at the Oscars is always a tough one to predict. This year, there are five contenders: “I’ll Never Love Again” from A Star Is Born, “Shallow” from A Star Is Born, “All the Stars” from Black Panther, “Willow” from Willow and “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

It’s worth noting that all five songs are performed by artists who also appear in the film they’re nominated for – Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper (“I’ll Never Love Again”), Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper (“Shallow”), Kendrick Lamar and SZA (“All the Stars”), Jaden Smith (“Willow”) and Tim Blake Nelson (“When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings). This hasn’t happened since 1985, when all five nominees in this category were songs performed by actors in the film they were nominated for.

So, who will take home the Oscar for Best Original Song? We’ll have to wait until February 24th to find out!
