Also, the movies are due the next day so you can watch them at your leisure. You can find Redbox locations near you by searching on the website or using the app.

The drawbacks of Redbox

Redbox has several drawbacks. First, it only offers a limited selection of movies. Second, the movies are due back by 9 PM the following night, which means you have to return them relatively quickly. Finally, Redbox charges per movie, so it can be expensive if you want to watch multiple movies in a short period of time.

How to use Redbox

2. Insert your credit or debit card into the machine.

3. Select the movie or game you want to rent. The rental fee will be automatically charged to your card.

4. When you’re finished watching the movie or playing the game, return it to any Redbox location before 9:00 PM local time on the due date to avoid additional fees.

The cost of Redbox

As of 2019, the cost of Redbox movies has gone up to $1.75 per day. This is a significant increase from the $1.50 per day price that was in place prior to 2019. Kiosks are located inside of select grocery stores, pharmacies, convenience stores, and mass retailers. They have a similar selection of new release DVDs as our other locations, but they do not carry video games or Blu-ray discs.

The history of Redbox

Redbox was founded in 2002 by Gregg Kaplan and Richard M. Fairbank. The company’s business model was inspired by McDonald’s Corporation’s successful DVD rental kiosks, which the two entrepreneurs had seen while on a trip to France. Redbox expanded quickly throughout the United States during the mid-2000s. By 2005, there were about 15,000 kiosks in operation across the country. In 2008, the company began installing kiosks in Canada and Puerto Rico.

Redbox movies are due at 9 pm the night of the rental. You can keep the movie for as long as you’d like, but you will be charged an additional $1/day if you keep it after 9 pm.
